Class Descriptions

Hatha Yoga
Class usually starts with a brief meditation to center the mind, and then transitions into pratapana (warm-ups) to wake up the body. After generating some heat, we explore asanas (postures) that focus on strength-building. Class concludes in a final relaxation to calm the body and mind.  All levels welcome.

Power Yoga
This class utilizes traditional aspects of the vinyasa flow practice to emphasize emotional and physical fitness. This is an intense, sweaty class, that utilizes imagery and affirmations designed to bring the physical, emotional, and spiritual bodies into a greater sense of peace and alignment.  This is a demanding and playful class open to practitioners of all levels and abilities, though advanced postures will be introduced with guidance by the instructor.  Advanced and beginning yogis alike are welcome!

Vinyasa Flow
"Vinyasa" means to link movement with breath. This style blends a flowing sequence of movements, each linked with breath, to cultivate balance, strength, flexibility, and focus in body and mind. This class is suitable for all levels, as variations are offered for beginners and advanced students alike. Invigorating, fun and engaging, the class practices the fundamentals of Vinyasa yoga (sun salutations, standing and balancing postures, seated and reclining poses, core strengthening and backbends) and introduces students to more advanced arm balances and inversions. You will leave feeling energized and refreshed, with a greater sense of awareness and calm.

Hatha+

Inspired by Hatha and Strala styles, this dynamic class focuses on dancing in and out of poses instead of forcing bodies into them. Progress comes with letting go and having a laugh. Poses won't be held as long as in traditional Hatha or as firmly as in Vinyasa classes, instead flowing in a smooth fashion that does not allow stress to accumulate or simply redistribute, but chucks it right out the system. Playfully, we'll gain flexibility, strength and focus.

Shambhava Yoga
Shambhava Yoga is a practice that delves into the mental, physical, and spiritual challenges of a Yoga Practice.  Shambhava Yoga is rooted in the Hatha Yoga tradition, and balances deep postures with quick Vinyasa movements to create a class that both invigorates and strengthens. These classes include some difficult postures and challenging movements, but and are perfect for both beginner and advanced Yogis alike. With an emphasis on proper alignment and core strength as well as the use of meditation and pranayama (breathing techniques), Shambhava connects the spiritual practice of Yoga to the physical movements of a Yoga class.

Anusara Yoga

Anusara is an alignment based practice that melds together eastern and western styles of yoga.  The class begins with traditional vinyasa flows and then transitions into longer holds that emphasize the importance of alignment.

Align & Flow

No matter where you are in your practice, come into this yoga’tude free zone and explore the amazing potentials of your being. Create space in which you can build strong foundations and enjoy flexibility of movement. Align your physical body and investigate the endless possibilities of aligning the spirit. Learn to find the mind-body connection that will allow you to flow with ease not only on the mat but also in life.  Align and Flow is an open level class that welcomes students of all levels of practice and exposure to yoga, and offers them access to a variety of yoga styles. Although we all work together, Yogi’s choice in asana variations is strongly encouraged.  So, listen to the language of your own body with childlike curiosity, stripped of judgment and expectation, and open up to what it has to offer.

Core Power Yoga Fitness

This class aims to leave you in a sweat! This is a challenging class that provides a workout through intense vinyasa flow with a particular focus on engaging and strengthening the core. Guided by groovy tunes, core power yoga fitness will help you find mediation through movement and a cardio workout. All levels are welcome.

Lotus Flow

Lotus flow is a fun and invigorating vinyasa style of yoga offering a systematic and in-depth activation of the body from the ground up. Through creative sequences and longer holds, each step of the lotus flow prepares the body for the next. This dynamic class will challenge your strength, flexibility and balance while offering you a space to go deeply within. Lotus flow is a moving meditation set to a playlist that will make you smile and let loose.

Supple Spine Vinyasa
This class is built on choreographed sequences focusing on the spine. Sequences draw influences from several kinesthetic and somatic techniques like ideokinesis, Bartenieff conditioning, and Alexander Technique, translated into a more familiar yoga practice. Your spine, and therefore your mind, will become more supple, strong and flexible.

Yin/Yang

Yin / Yang is a mix between a more vigorous yang practice and a slow pace yin practice. We will flow through a vinyasa sequence before diving into 50 minutes of yin yoga. Yin yoga will calm your mind and stretch your body. In yin yoga we hold certain asana for longer periods of time (3 to 5 minutes) to achieve a deeper relaxation and a more subtle work on meridians, fascia joints, and bones.
